Biography

Hailing from Australia, the electronic pop pair Lastlings surfaced toward the close of the 2010s, fusing glacial electronica with lavish, film-score-inflected dance-pop. The siblings Amy and Josh Dowdle comprise the duo, which delivered its first full-length effort, First Contact, in 2020.

Formed on the Gold Coast in Queensland during 2015, Lastlings issued their opening EP, Unreality, the next year. Referencing Jamie xx and Nicolas Jaar among their touchstones, the pair followed with the 2017 EP Verses and joined Aussie alt-dance outfit Rüfüs Du Sol for a nationwide tour. Their breakthrough arrived in late 2018 through the sultry single “Deja Vu,” which also served as the opening cut on the 2020 debut album First Contact.
