Lenny Solomon, a Canadian violinist rooted in swing, demonstrates notable versatility across an array of musical styles. His father held the post of principal violist with the Toronto Symphony, while his sister wrote scores for film and television. He began piano lessons at age six and took up the violin two years afterward. At fifteen he first encountered the recordings of Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. During the 1970s he attracted attention as one member of the pop duo Myles & Lenny alongside Myles Cohen, performed classical repertoire with Quintessence, and maintained a steady career as a studio musician. Solomon issued his first album on the Jazz Inspiration label, After You've Gone, in 1992; three years later he followed with The Gershwin Sessions, which featured guest appearances by Ruby Braff and Peter Appleyard.
