The instrumental folk ensemble from Britain known as Leveret consists of Andy Cutting on melodeon, Robert Harbron handling concertina duties, and Sam Sweeney on fiddle. All three musicians bring extensive experience, having accumulated numerous credits performing instrumentally alongside leading figures in English folk music such as Martin Simpson, Bellowhead, June Tabor, and the Full English. Their collaboration originated while serving together in the Hurricane Party, the backing group for vocalist Fay Hield, where they conceived the notion of an all-instrumental group blending refreshed traditional pieces with original folk compositions. The year 2014 saw the group's establishment, followed by a single-day recording session for their first release, New Anything. Rootbeat Records put out this debut in the beginning of 2015, earning positive critical attention that prompted Leveret to tour extensively throughout the year while preparing songs for the next effort. January 2016 brought In the Round, captured during a live performance inside a Derbyshire church with eight sides. By September 2017, the musicians delivered Inventions, a collection composed solely of new material, marking their third album within three years.
