Lolita, the Spanish singer and actress, launched her professional career at age 16 with the 1975 release of her debut album Amor Amor, which was produced by Ruiz Venegas. Her first television appearance came soon afterward on the popular program Directísimo. Although she had once hoped to pursue medical studies, her mother—the local legend Lola Flores—exerted a powerful influence that steered Lolita toward a life in music instead. In 1983 she wed the Argentine Guillermo Furiese while still known by her birth name, Dolores González Flores. The year 1995 brought the loss of both her mother and her brother Antonio along with the end of her marriage, leading Lolita to withdraw from performing until her 2001 return with the bolero revival album Lola Lolita Lola.
