Biography
M4TR, short for Music 4 The Revolution, delivers upbeat energy amid apocalyptic times. Listeners groove through dystopian scenes powered by layered textures of new wave, synthpop, disco, funk, soul, reggae, and rap that shuttle between eras. AJ Solaris launched the effort in 2015 as a protest initiative, handling songwriting, vocals, synthesizers, acoustic guitar, and studio engineering duties. The third studio album, Love Is The Revolution, appeared in 2025 alongside a ten-year retrospective issued on Bandcamp.
Earlier key recordings encompass the No Tomorrow EP from 2023, the concert album M4TR LIVE from 2024, and the Good Times For The End Times live EP from 2025. Each of these showcases the second live lineup of Laura Cook, Mark Davenport, Rich Andrews, and Owen Williams, spotlighting the tracks No Tomorrow, Hooks, and Siren Song. Amid the COVID period, AJ Solaris issued the second lockdown solo record Next in 2021, which included the singles In It to Win It, Colorblind, and Clean. The project originated with the debut album Rock To Resist By in 2018, backed by the initial live ensemble and spotlighting Monkey God together with Walkout On Their World.
From 2017 onward, M4TR has performed throughout the Washington DC area at venues and events including Jammin Java, The Renegade, Pearl Street Warehouse, Public Bar Live, The Pocket, The Runaway, Songbyrd Cafe, DC Pieshop, Adams Morgan Porchfest, Crossroads Music Fest, Launch Music Festival, Tesla Takedown, Hands Up rallies, and additional spots. Supporters reach 153 countries via 4100 playlists and exceed 2,000,000 streams. Updates appear on Spotify, Tidal, Bandcamp, YouTube, and Apple Music.
