Biography
Growing up amid the tough streets of Atlanta’s east side in the neighborhood called Zone 6, rapper Maceo—born Maceo Barnes—emerged during summer 2005 through the crunk cuts “Go Sit Down” and “Nextel Chirp.” Initially embraced locally, the songs soon reached adjacent states and settled into regular rotation on Southern mixtapes. His profile rose further after guesting on the third installment of DJ Mars and DJ Bobby Black’s Street Certified series. By summer’s close he reached a national audience with his first Big Cat Records release, Straight out da Pot.
