Malvina Reynolds emerged as a writer of topical material during the 1960s, attaining recognition at an age when most individuals step away from professional life. She is chiefly identified with the satirical composition “Little Boxes,” the sole pop singles success Pete Seeger enjoyed in 1964. Reynolds also supplied “What Have They Done to the Rain,” which reached hit status for the Searchers in 1965. Joan Baez, Judy Collins, and additional performers have recorded her songs.
