Biography
Manolis Rasoulis, counted among Greece's finest lyricists, had to abandon his native country after facing charges for defamatory remarks he made about singer Yorgos Dalara during an interview published by the daily newspaper Exousia. Tried in absentia the day following his exit, on March 7, 2000, he received a conviction from Athens's three-member First Instance (Misdemeanor) Court and a sentence of twelve months' imprisonment.
His most notable achievements arose from work alongside composer Petros Vagiopoulos, yet Rasoulis has also penned material for additional Greek composers such as M. Loizos, C. Nikalopoulos, and D. Savapoulos. Performers including Giorgos Xindaris, Giorgos Lizos, Orfeas Perithis, Kostas Makedonas, Natali Rasouli, and Andreas Karakotas have recorded his songs.
