Antonis Remos first rose to prominence as a leading Greek pop artist of his era with the 1996 arrival of his self-titled debut album. He was born on June 19, 1970, in Düsseldorf, West Germany, and moved back with his family to their hometown of Thessaloniki at age ten. After finishing school Remos held assorted temporary jobs while also singing in local clubs at night. In 1995 he shifted to Athens and opened for Dimitris Mitropanos, Stefanos Korkolis, and Mario Tokas, which led to a Sony recording contract. Within a year the debut reached double platinum on the strength of a sold-out tour. Keros Na Pame Parakato followed in 1998 and proved still more successful. Greek songwriting figures Christos Nikolopoulos, Yannis Parios, Stamatis Spanoudakis, and Antonis Andrikakis supplied new material for his third album, Pali Ap'tin Arhi, issued in 1999. The next year he scored with “I Agapi Ine Elefandas,” the main theme from a hit film, then delivered his biggest single to date, “Fly with Me,” a hip-hop-inflected remix of the earlier track “Meine.” By the 2001 release of Mia Nihta Mono, Remos stood as the dominant figure in contemporary Greek pop. The subsequent albums Kardia Mou Min Anisiheis and Mia Anapnoi each earned triple platinum status, and in 2004 he put out his first live recording, Live. San Anemos appeared in stores in 2005.
