Biography
A Scottish folksinger and multi-instrumentalist, Marc Ellington has supplied guest spots on Fairport Convention releases, beginning with vocal support for the 1969 album Unhalfbricking. He also supplied percussion on Matthews Southern Comfort’s self-titled 1969 LP and, that same year, cut his own debut for Ampex, an effort that showcased his singing, guitar, and bagpipes while drawing on Fairport veterans Simon Nicol and Richard Thompson. Ellington later appeared on multiple Richard Thompson projects and performed vocals for Linda Thompson’s 1996 collection Dreams Fly Away. Festival appearances have included the annual Cropredy event centered on Fairport, and by 2007 he held the post of Deputy Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire as well as a seat on the Heritage Lottery Fund Committee for Scotland.
