Canadian opera tenor Marc Hervieux has built an international career as both a stage performer and a recording artist. Born in Montreal, he came from a working-class background and found himself living independently by his teenage years while completing a graphic arts diploma. Though singing remained a constant passion, he launched the design company L'image de Marc and kept music as a sideline, performing with pop groups and taking part in amateur productions. Only after securing an audition to deliver selections from Mozart's Don Giovanni with a local theater troupe did he commit to opera as a profession. The firm underwrote his studies at Le Conservatoire de Musique du Quebec a Montreal, where seven years of training led to his music degree. Once established professionally, Hervieux appeared on stages across Quebec, in Seoul, and at New York's Metropolitan Opera, moving freely between operatic roles and musical-theater productions such as Starmania, The Man of La Mancha, and Hair. His recorded output has been equally wide-ranging, encompassing a collection of Neapolitan songs, a holiday album, a set of standards, and multiple opera releases.
