Biography
Marcie Blane blended the teen idol aesthetic with a subtle girl group sensibility, scoring her sole major success with "Bobby's Girl," which climbed to the number three spot toward the end of 1962. Though sugary sweet, the track proved relentlessly memorable thanks to its rumbling tremolo guitar lines, goofy male backing shouts of "You're not a kid anymore!", and Blane's innocent singing, introduced by theatrical spoken-word passages. On the Seville imprint she put out roughly six additional 45s, several of them penned by the Klein-Hoffman songwriting duo responsible for her breakthrough. Yet none achieved chart success or stood out, residing firmly in the frothiest corner of the girl group movement.
