Biography
Marcus Roberts first came across the promising trumpeter Marcus Printup at the University of North Florida in 1991. Printup had taken up the trumpet in fifth grade, explored funk as a teenager, and later joined the ten-piece ensemble Soul Reason for the Blues during college. In the years since, he has toured and recorded with Roberts, appeared with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, recorded with Carl Allen, performed with Betty Carter, and released several fine albums as a leader on Blue Note.
