Biography
Marty Gold, recognized as an arranger and composer in the space-age pop realm, entered the world on December 26, 1915, in New York City. He devoted the opening portion of his professional life to piano duties within big bands before shifting, during the early 1950s, to a studio arranger position at Decca Records, where he also penned the Four Aces' 1951 smash "Tell Me Why." He subsequently moved to RCA, contributing to multiple LPs by the Three Suns and supplying arrangements plus conducting for numerous Peter Nero sessions. Gold and his orchestra cut several albums for RCA together with its Vik and X affiliates, among them Organized for Hi-Fi, Stereo Action Goes Hollywood, Soundpower! Music to the Limits of Audibility and Soundaroundus, releases much prized by today's collectors of space-age lounge-pop.
