Biography
Dan McCarthy, an Omaha musician with ties to other Nebraska acts such as Bright Eyes, Tilly and the Wall, and Azure Ray, fronts the alternative country-rock outfit McCarthy Trenching. The project's self-titled first album appeared in 2007 and drew heavily on tracks from his 2003 demo Old Habits, while the remaining songs were captured during 2005 and 2006 in the sessions known as It's Got Nothing to Do with the Drinking. That grounded debut was succeeded in 2008 by Calamity Drenching, the bulk of which was laid down on an eight-track recorder inside the songwriter's living room.
