Under the Melody's Echo Chamber moniker, French artist Melody Prochet shapes lush psych pop laced with prog and folk currents, sending out hypnotic tunes that linger. She matches wits alongside contributors from Tame Impala on the 2012 self-titled debut and Dungen on 2018's Bon Voyage, then claimed distinctive ground with Emotional Eternal in 2022.

Before launching the project that year, Prochet had already played in multiple groups, an endeavor sparked by a vivid dream in which her bedroom acoustics generated endless echoes. Performance was familiar territory; she had previously contributed to the twee pop outfit Narcoleptic Dancers and anchored the ethereal project My Bee's Garden. When that band opened for Australian guitar rockers Tame Impala across Europe in 2010, she connected with Kevin Parker, who volunteered to produce her emerging solo work under the new name. The pair moved swiftly, capturing portions of the project's richly atmospheric material in Parker's temporary setup and the remainder inside her grandmother's coastal residence in southern France. Fat Possum Records issued the self-titled album during fall 2012, after which Prochet formed a touring ensemble to expand the songs for upcoming live dates.

Attempts to record a follow-up with Parker soon stalled, prompting her return to France. She persisted briefly before scrapping the material entirely and erasing numerous files. Relocating to Sweden brought encounters with Dungen's Reine Fiske and the Amazing's Fredrik Swahn. Together with Dungen's Gustav Ejstes and Johan Holmegard, they shaped an expansive blend of prog, psych, and pop marked by greater spontaneity than the debut. After completing the album, one track surfaced in April 2017, yet a serious injury forced postponement of the full release while she recovered. Slightly more than twelve months afterward, Fat Possum put out Bon Voyage. In its wake, Prochet withdrew from music altogether, settling in the Alps with her partner to raise a family. Exposure solely to ambient sounds during her partner's meditation sessions slowly rekindled her interest in writing, leading her to reconnect with Fiske. They exchanged files remotely to develop fresh material. The COVID pandemic interrupted early work, and upon resuming, Swahn joined the sessions. Their resulting sound adopted a more intimate, restrained approach than Bon Voyage, emphasizing recovery over turmoil, incorporating reflections on motherhood and touches of Turkish psych. Domino released Emotional Eternal in April 2022. Later that year, Fat Possum issued the concise archival collection Unfold, assembling surviving tracks Prochet had recorded for the abandoned second album. These pieces and their production link her Parker-era work with the subsequent collaborations alongside her Swedish associates.
