Michael Boezi

Michael Boezi channels the spirit and drive of post-punk into contemporary music through original compositions that spark thoughtful, progressive, and cooperative contemplation, offering a counterbalance to the sustained influence of conditioning and misinformation. Boston musicians of the highest caliber join him on the two volumes of No Love Songs, which together comprise 23 tracks exploring ways to preserve humanity amid present-day conditions. These works draw stylistic parallels to Billy Bragg, Andrew Bird, Kurt Vile, Dire Straits, Mountain Goats, Lord Huron, R.E.M, Johnny Marr, Pete Townshend, and Richard Thompson.

Aaron Smith selected the newly issued No Love Songs Volume 2 as his pick of the week, noting that Michael Boezi and an ensemble of skilled players deliver a compelling set of songs addressing the troubled condition of the world; even with weighty themes conveyed through strong lyrics and skilled playing, the record avoids gloom and instead illustrates why creative expression matters during difficult periods and how it helps navigate disorder.
