Michael Katon emerged from the small community of Hell, Michigan, as a high-intensity guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer committed to unadorned blues-rock. Working exclusively from his residence, he has sustained an independent recording career that already exceeds two decades and shows no sign of ending. Early stints in garage rock ensembles and hillbilly outfits near Ypsilanti, Michigan, continue to anchor his approach. In performance he functions as the quintessential roadhouse player, deploying a forceful boogie style that ignites audiences within moments.

Although he remains little known inside the United States, his standing rests almost entirely on his reputation as a guitar hero throughout Europe. The first album, Boogie All Over Your Head, appeared in Sweden in 1984. Subsequent releases on the Danish Provogue label and other European imprints have maintained the same balance of blues and rock, with his own compositions consistently providing the strongest material. Regular touring on the continent has reinforced that profile. While he keeps exploring every corner of American roots rock and continues to oversee his own sessions inside a basement home project studio, Michael Katon stands as a genuine American blues-rock performer who merits a considerably larger audience.
