Biography
Michelle Willson, a Boston-area native celebrated as a swing and jump blues vocalist, took up singing in her teens and regularly fronted ensembles bearing whimsical names drawn from fictional characters, among them Mimi Jones and Alex Clayton. Working independently, she assembled a favorably received tribute to vocal heroes Dinah Washington and Ruth Brown before becoming a member of Evil Gal; resuming solo activity, she put out her debut album Evil Gal Blues in 1994, with So Emotional arriving in 1996. Wake Up Call stood as her first release of the new millennium.
