Biography
Minnesota originated to spotlight veteran singer/songwriter Peter Himmelman together with filmmaker/screenwriter David Hollander. The band emphasizes Himmelman's soulful approach, colored by blues and pop, yet also adopts Hollander's emphasis on storytelling and wide-ranging, film-inspired dimensions. Longtime friends, the pair had explored creative experiments informally across many years before committing those notions to recording. They brought in experienced local musicians during 2011—Jeff Victor of Honeydogs, Jacob Hanson from the Pines, Noah Levy with BoDeans, and Kristin Mooney—to lay down the tracks for their first release. The album Are You There appeared on Hymn & Holler that November 2012.
