Biography
Born to a French mother and a Martinican father, percussionist Mino Cinelu began with guitar during childhood. A trip to his father’s homeland sparked a switch to drums and percussion. He relocated first to England and later to America, where an early-’80s association with Miles Davis opened the door to a wide-ranging career as a session musician for both jazz and pop acts. In July 2000 he issued his self-titled debut solo album, performing most of the instruments, supplying vocals, and serving as producer, arranger, and songwriter.
