Biography
Nyles Miszczyk, working under the Miszczyk name as a Toronto-based producer, fuses an eclectic range of styles through meticulous craftsmanship honed across years of beat construction and studio engineering. His debut full-length Thyrsis of Etna arrived in 2022 and featured an array of vocalists on individual tracks, among them Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier, the Space Lady, Pylon's Vanessa Briscoe Hay, longtime collaborator Chandra Oppenheim, and additional contributors.
Miszczyk's varied background encompasses membership in the rap group Bread & Water as well as a role as bassist in the post-punk project Chandra. He also logged substantial production credits across numerous bands and solo artists while serving as in-house engineer at Toronto’s Royal Mountain Records studios. The 2019 Bad Ride EP, a four-track joint effort with Chandra, offered an early glimpse of his solo aesthetic. Thyrsis of Etna expanded considerably on that foundation, drawing friends and guests to add vocals and other contributions atop his precisely calibrated instrumentals. The album appeared via the We Are Time label in July 2022.
