Motel

Billy Méndez and Rodrigo Dávila launched the Mexican outfit Motel in 2002, though the group first navigated the standard circuit of bar gigs and personnel shifts before Pepe Damián joined on drums and Rubén Bridge took over bass to stabilize the lineup. After mailing demos to Warner Bros. Mexico, the band secured a contract, and their self-titled debut album arrived in 2006 carrying an alternative rock edge, spearheaded by the memorable single “Dime Ven.” The track brought Dávila a 2006 Latin Grammy nod for Best Rock Song, while the full band earned recognition when the album itself received a nomination for Best Rock Album by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
