Motion Graphics serves as the experimental glitch-pop vehicle for American musician, vocalist, and graphic designer Joe Williams. Futuristic soundscapes emerge through his deployment of bespoke randomized software, drawing equal influence from contemporary alt-R&B and minimalist classical traditions. Williams's broad background in music traces back to his role as a noise rock drummer in Cleveland throughout the late '90s. He launched So Red in 2001, an endeavor that originated as a breakcore/IDM project linked to figures such as Drop the Lime and Girl Talk prior to shifting toward electropop. By integrating live instrumentation and steering toward a glam rock aesthetic, he adopted the moniker White Williams, issuing the acclaimed 2007 album Smoke via Tigerbeat6, which Domino sublabel Double Six Records reissued the next year. Additional collaborations encompassed work alongside Ecstatic Sunshine and Co La, plus his composition of the score for the 2013 documentary 12 O'Clock Boys. He further participated on the 2015 debut release from Lifted, the experimental ensemble directed by Maxmillion Dunbar, founder of the Future Times label. Motion Graphics surfaced in 2016 through the 7" single "Brass Mechanics" on Future Times alongside a self-titled full-length issued by Domino.
