Biography
Taking its name from a seaside museum in San Francisco, Musée Mécanique blends pianos, guitars, synthesizers, and vintage instruments to produce a unique chamber pop sound. The founding members, Micah Rabwin and Sean Ogilvie, grew up in California and absorbed inspiration from the museum’s nostalgic character. After choosing the name Musée Mécanique, the pair began creating music that honored the same historical period the museum evokes—a venue containing antique arcade games and novelties recovered from a defunct San Francisco amusement park. The duo later moved to Portland, where additional musicians joined the lineup and serious songwriting commenced. Hold This Ghost, released in 2008, served as Musée Mécanique’s first full-length album.
