Myriam Rignol established herself during the 2010s as a central figure among viola da gamba specialists devoted to historically informed Baroque performance. She appeared regularly with leading period-instrument groups such as Correspondances, Pygmalion, and the Ricercar Consort.

Born in 1988 in Perpignan at the southern tip of France, Rignol began studying the viola da gamba at age seven under Christian Sala. She completed her training with him at the C.N.R. Perpignan, receiving her diploma in 2004, then pursued advanced work in Lyon with Marianne Muller. In 2011 she spent an Erasmus year at the Hochschule für Musik Köln with Rainer Zipperling and attended master classes given by Jordi Savall, Wieland Kuijken, and Philippe Pierlot. Thereafter she took part in numerous historically oriented Baroque ensembles while holding a professorship in viola da gamba at the Conservatoire du Grand Besançon Métropole from 2011 onward. Her first recording, made with A Nocte Temporis, appeared on Alpha in 2018 as Clérambault: Cantates Françaises.

She collaborated with Philippe Pierlot and theorbist Rolf Lislevand in the Ricercar Consort, performed in Pygmalion under Raphaël Pichon, joined Sébastien Daucé’s Ensemble Correspondances, and worked with Patrick Ayrton’s Les Inventions. Rignol co-founded the ensemble Les Timbres together with violinist Yoko Kawakubo and harpsichordist Julien Wolfs; the group captured first prizes at the International Competition for Ensembles in Bruges and the Competition for Early Music in Yamanashi. With tenor Cyril Auvity and harpsichordist Marie van Rhijn she recorded music by Constantijn Huygens for Glossa. In 2020 she moved with other Ricercar Consort members to Mirare for a program of works by Jean de Sainte-Colombe and additional French composers. Her initial solo release, devoted to Bach’s Six Suites for solo cello transcribed for viola da gamba, came out on the Château de Versailles label in 2021. In 2024 she joined flutist Anna Besson and keyboardist Jean Rondeau for the album Corelli, Quentin: Flute Sonatas.
