Neffex, an electronic endeavor spanning multiple genres, cultivated an enormous audience in the latter half of the 2010s by issuing one new track each week across a 100-week stretch. Blending EDM, rap, bass music, and additional styles, the effort produced widely circulated singles such as "Rumors" and "Fight Back." After issuing the more cohesive full-length New Beginnings in 2020, the project resumed its intensive weekly release pace in 2021 and sustained that elevated volume through the following year.
Formed initially as a duo, Neffex originated from the partnership between vocalist and lyricist Bryce Savage and producer Cameron Wales. The two had performed together in a high school band before reuniting after college to launch the project in 2014. Working from an apartment in Orange County, California, they shaped a hybrid sound incorporating rap and electronic elements. Their 100 songs challenge began in 2017, delivering weekly singles including "Fight Back," "Rumors," "Best of Me," and further tracks that achieved viral status. A key factor in their ascent involved permitting free use of their music by content creators, resulting in Neffex songs appearing in numerous videos by prominent social media figures. The approach yielded millions of streams alongside millions of followers on multiple platforms.
October 2019 brought the six-song EP Q203, titled after their recording location. Their first full-length album, the 16-track New Beginnings, followed in September 2020 and included guest appearances from Jez Dior, ROZES, and MASN. In July 2021 the partnership ended, after which Wales issued a pair of solo EPs as Cam Wales while Savage retained the Neffex name for his own solo output. Savage soon initiated a second 100 songs campaign that extended into 2022.
