Emerging initially as a solo performer in the early '90s, Neil Leyton first drew notice across Toronto's independent music circles, and later throughout Canada, by serving as frontman for the glam rock group Conscience Pilate. He joined the band for live dates spanning 1995 to 1997, after which contractual disputes caused the ensemble to disband that year. Leyton has remained active with multiple ventures since, among them founding his own Fading Ways label. The imprint operates offices in Canada and Europe while representing acts such as Plasma Blast, the Pariahs, and the Sin-Tones. In 2000 he issued My New Soul, a collection that combined original songs with several covers. He has further taken part in numerous industry showcases both within Canada and on the international stage.
