Newsted

Jason Newsted, the bassist formerly associated with Metallica as well as Voivod, Ozzy Osbourne, Flotsam and Jetsam, and additional projects, launched the heavy metal trio Newsted in 2012. Taking charge of bass and vocals himself, he enlisted drummer Jesus Mendez, Jr., an acquaintance from his Metallica and EchoBrain period, and guitarist Jessie Farnsworth to round out the power trio that bears his name. The musicians moved quickly into the studio, initiating writing and recording sessions later that year, which resulted in the early-2013 release of their opening EP, Metal, followed later in the same year by the full-length debut Heavy Metal Music.
