Niamh Kavanagh

Born in 1968, Niamh Kavanagh had already built a career in the Irish film industry, with substantial appearances on the soundtrack to The Commitments, when she received the invitation to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest. The singer claimed victory there in 1993 as the country’s second consecutive winner, after which her song “In Your Eyes” topped the year’s sales chart at home and registered major success in numerous other European territories. In subsequent years Kavanagh has toured and recorded internationally, including her debut album Flying Blind, captured in Nashville with John Jennings, and the Gerry Carney collaboration Together Alone, which contained a brilliant revision of “In Your Eyes.”
