Noah Georgeson operates as a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist in addition to his extensive credits as producer and mixing engineer for the Strokes, Joanna Newsom, Cate Le Bon, and numerous further artists. His 2006 solo debut Find Shelter introduced an album of Baroque folk-pop under his own name, while a 2021 ambient project titled Refuge resulted from his work with longtime collaborator Devendra Banhart.

Raised in Nevada City, California, Georgeson studied at Mills College in the early 2000s. There he joined Joanna Newsom in the surly rock band the Pleased and subsequently produced her 2004 solo debut The Milk-Eyed Mender. Across the 2000s he contributed behind the scenes to the rising freak folk movement, serving in capacities ranging from producer and mixing engineer to session player and stage musician on releases and performances by Newsom, Vetiver, Devendra Banhart, Mason Jennings, and others. Georgeson issued his solo debut Find Shelter in 2006, an album of orchestral folk songs defined by his low voice and off-kilter songwriting style. That year he also produced Bert Jansch’s album The Black Swan and the only release from Little Joy, the late-2000s supergroup formed by Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti, Los Hermanos’ Rodrigo Amarante, and Binki Shapiro. His studio engagements extended through the following decade and encompassed work with Cate Le Bon, Lou Rhodes, Natalia Lafourcade, Chadwick Stokes, and many additional artists. Beyond the studio, Georgeson maintained a steady position in Banhart’s live band. In 2021 the pair released the new age-toned ambient album Refuge.
