Rooted in a blend of traditional country and modern rock, Nora Jane Struthers channels passionate Americana as a Nashville-based singer and songwriter. She entered the world in Virginia during 1983 and spent her formative years in New Jersey, where folk festivals shared with her bluegrass-musician father first ignited her interest in music. An early diagnosis of dyslexia prompted her to complete a teaching certificate at New York University, after which she instructed high-school students in Brooklyn for several years. Her attachment to music remained unbroken, however, and she moved to Nashville in 2008 to devote herself entirely to songwriting and live performance. The Bootleggers quickly took shape as her initial ensemble, and the group claimed first place in the band contest at the 2010 Telluride Bluegrass Festival. That same year she issued her self-titled debut album and became a member of Bearfoot, contributing to their 2011 release American Story. By 2012 she had assembled a new roster of musicians she named the Party Line. A Kickstarter campaign followed, generating the resources needed to record her second solo album, Carnival, issued in 2013. Sustained by that fan support, Struthers and the Party Line spent the next several years crisscrossing the United States while refining new material in performance, leading to the arrival of her third full-length record, Wake, in 2015.
