Hailing from Britain, Pale Blue Eyes fuse rhythmic post-punk with sophisticated pop, pulling in elements that stretch from Krautrock to melodic synth pop. Based in Totnes, Devon, the trio adopted a D.I.Y. ethos, partnering extensively with their local creative community while constructing their own analog studio to capture the 2022 debut album Souvenirs. The following year brought the dynamic and inward-looking This House.

Fronted by the husband-and-wife duo Matt and Lucy Board, the group features bassist Aubrey Simpson, whom the pair encountered via Sea Change, a modest yet respected yearly music festival held in their hometown. Working from an analog studio they assembled inside Matt’s mother’s house, the trio finished their debut single in 2020 before enlisting the area’s active creative enterprises to issue the track. Consequently, the 2021 7" single “Motionless/Chelsea” received backing from a local independent brewery that also produced a Pale Blue Ale, a firm specializing in mushroom-farm construction, and a progressive funeral home connected to the KLF. Such partnerships and communal involvement define the band’s singular method.

By the time the group signed with Full Time Hobby in 2022, they had already finished their first album and started work on a successor. Pale Blue Eyes’ full-length debut Souvenirs, issued that September, merged motorik grooves with expansive choruses. On 2023’s life-affirming This House the band explored loss and closure through vulnerable lyrics set against upbeat melodies and hip-shaking beats.
