Biography
Keith Hopewell, who was born in York, first connected with hip-hop through an accomplished graffiti practice that progressed to exhibitions in sanctioned spaces alongside Req and Goldie, both recognized for their intermittent work as writers. Around the same period he took up production and launched New Flesh for Old in the early 1990s. Although he has issued solo material on DJ Vadim’s Jazz Fudge label, the greater part of his notable production output has been created for New Flesh, the outfit he assembled in the mid-’90s with Toastie Tailor and Juice Aleem. Once those two members joined, the group delivered several self-released singles before placing LPs with London independent Big Dada. Part 2’s own tracks have also surfaced on Jazz Fudge via Prelude to Cycle 6 and on Big Dada through a single shared with Juice Aleem.
