Paul De Jong

Paul de Jong, a cellist, songwriter, and electronic producer, co-established the acclaimed indie electronic collagist duo the Books alongside guitarist/vocalist Nick Zammuto. Together they shaped multiple acclaimed albums filled with skittering, sample-driven instrumental atmospheres from 1999 through 2012. Years after the Books concluded their run with the 2008 release The Way Out, de Jong issued his first solo project, IF, a spirited collection that wove together traditional folk arrangements, found-sound samples, and electronic textures. Brooklyn's Temporary Residence Ltd. label put out the album in April 2015. The follow-up, the wide-ranging, ambitious, and intimate You Fucken Sucker, appeared in 2018.
