Biography
Baysa Schechter founded the Jewish folk ensemble Pharaoh's Daughter in 1993 as its vocalist, shaping the group through Eastern European klezmer, Middle Eastern Jewish music, and the sensibilities of her orthodox upbringing. The ensemble's lineup incorporates woodwinds including flute, clarinet, and crumhorn alongside guitar, cello, tabla, and additional exotic percussion. Its discography features the 1999 release Daddy's Pockets and the 2000 album Out of the Reeds.
