Piramis, known in English as Pyramid, rose to prominence as one of Hungary’s leading hard-rock acts after forming in 1973. Its original roster included Istvan Bertodi on vocals, Peter Gabor on guitar and vocals, Lajos Som on bass, Janos Toth on saxophone and flute, Bela Toth on keyboards and vocals, and Bela Szigeti on drums. The self-titled debut appeared soon afterward, launching a commercially durable recording career that extended beyond three decades. Although the lineup experienced occasional turnover, the band sustained a near-constant position high on domestic charts throughout the ensuing years. A series of well-received reunion concerts took place in 2006, and the resulting live album Koncert 2006 reached the Top Ten on the Hungarian album charts.
