Biography
Quincy works as an actor, songwriter, and vocalist. He was born to Al B. Sure! and actress Kim Porter, lists Quincy Jones as his godfather, and was later adopted by Diddy. His recorded output, when not occupied with screen projects, favors smooth, trap-laced R&B, as heard on the 2022 EP Q Side B Side.
Quincy Taylor Brown entered the world in New York City. Frequent childhood relocations took him through Georgia and California, disrupting his early hopes of a professional baseball career and steering him instead toward modeling and acting. A brief appearance on an installment of MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 supplied early visibility rather than employment. Within several years he secured small screen parts while simultaneously launching a parallel path as a recording artist. In 2015 he joined Shameik Moore, Zoë Kravitz, and Tyga in the cast of Dope and took the lead in Brotherly Love. That same year he issued the pop-R&B singles “Friends First,” which featured French Montana, and “Exotic,” which featured G-Eazy. His debut EP-length release, This Is For You, arrived in 2017 and included the multi-million streaming track “Late Night Flex.” Additional singles followed over the ensuing seasons, culminating in the six-song EP Q Side B Side in 2022; one selection on the project carries production input from the Code.
