Biography
Hailing from Louisiana, Quintin Gerard W. works as a seasoned saxophonist whose sound fuses jazz traditions with contemporary R&B. He first picked up the saxophone during childhood in Norco, Louisiana, and by his high school years performed as a standout musician in the District VI Honor Jazz and Concert Bands of New Orleans while earning a spot in the Louisiana All-State Band in 1983. Following graduation he enrolled at Loyola University on scholarship, where pianist Ellis Marsalis guided his jazz studies. The move to Los Angeles in 1989 quickly led to touring and recording engagements with prominent figures such as Jeff Lorber, Kenny Garrett, Najee, Dave Koz, and additional leading artists. His first solo project, Fnkysax, appeared in 2004, with Perseverance arriving two years later. In 2011 Gerard W. issued his third solo release, the romantic Before It's Gone.
