Biography
Rabbani, a nine-piece Malaysia-based nasyid ensemble rooted in quasi-traditional styles, operates under the direction of lead vocalist Mohammed Asri Ibrahim. The group debuted with a self-titled album in 1997. Known for blending contemporary musical elements into nasyid, which sets their sound apart from a straightforward percussive approach, Rabbani had issued ten further albums by the arrival of Suara Takbir in 2005. That project emerged as a "contribution" to the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The group has also produced three compilation albums, the most recent being 2004's Yalla Beena! Jom! Let's Go!
