Biography
Rachel Goswell, who had lent her support to the Neil Halstead-fronted outfits Slowdive and Mojave 3, ventured into solo territory after roughly fifteen years in the music business. With contributions from Joe Light on songwriting duties, David Naughton handling production, and longtime acquaintance Ashley Bates—previously a member of Chapterhouse—on drums, her debut album Waves Are Universal appeared via 4AD in June 2004, the same imprint that housed Mojave 3. Ahead of the full-length came the Sleep Shelter EP. Goswell then resumed her efforts on Mojave 3's fifth record.
