Biography
The UK rock band Rachel Stamp originally included David Ryder-Prangley on vocals and bass, Will Crewdson on guitar, Mike Rowe on keyboards, and Cliff Harris on drums. After only four live shows, WEA Records offered them a contract in May 1995. Elements of T. Rex, Jane’s Addiction, and Prince surfaced on their first single, ‘Pop Singer’, which appeared in March 1996 and was co-produced by Dave Eringa together with the group. Although they finished a debut album, the label ended the agreement, unsettled by the band’s experimental leanings. David Ryder-Prangley and Will Crewdson subsequently rebuilt the lineup with Shaheena Dax on keyboards and Robin Guy on drums, issuing several singles through independent labels and cultivating a devoted concert audience through their high-energy, garish, and unapologetically decadent approach to glam rock.
