Biography
Formed as a studio ensemble built around the songwriting partnership of Norman Dolph and Paul DiFranco, Reunion secured its sole U.S. Top 10 entry in 1974 via the novelty track “Life Is A Rock (But The Radio Rolled Me).” Several earlier singles issued on RCA Records had produced no commercial response when DiFranco, acting as writer and producer, enlisted writer and singer Joey Levine to complete the composition that would become the group’s lone success. Although the piece had originated two years earlier, it had stayed unfinished until Levine joined the project; final songwriting credit went to Levine, Dolph, and DiFranco. The track was cut in a bubblegum vein, a style in which Levine had already scored multiple 1960s hits for studio acts such as the Ohio Express while also serving as a member of the Third Rail. “Life Is A Rock (But The Radio Rolled Me)” climbed to number 8 on the U.S. charts by the end of 1974, yet subsequent Reunion releases failed to register on any chart. No full-length albums were ever recorded, and the venture was abandoned shortly afterward.
