Saba Lou developed an independent musical journey despite being the daughter of the infamous rock & roll rebel King Khan, progressing from creating basic pop tunes as a young child to composing and producing thoughtful acoustic pop as a teenager for her initial release Planet Enigma in 2015, followed by clever, brisk tracks evoking the 1950s on Novum Ovum in 2019.

Born in Germany during 2000, Saba Lou Khan initiated her recording career at six years old through a collaboration with her father on the four-track single First Day of School, which appeared via the joint efforts of Atlanta's Slaughterhaus and Rob's House Records. During 2008, Khan composed and tracked "Good Habits (and Bad)," an astoundingly precise depiction of youthful experiences, which surfaced in 2012 as the B-side to the "Until the End" single on Seth Bogart's Wacky Wacko imprint. Producers for the Cartoon Network series Clarence later selected it to serve as the program's closing theme starting in 2014.

Attending high school at the time, Saba Lou launched sessions for her debut full-length in 2015, where she handled nylon-string guitar duties alongside vocals on a set of original compositions. Issued through Khannibalism, her father's imprint, in partnership with the Ernest Jenning Record Co., Planet Enigma included contributions from Erin Wood of Spits and Ryan Sambol of Strange Boys. Khan persisted with her education while venturing into live performances, appearing alone at times, pairing with Chuckamuck guitarist Oskar Wald on other occasions, or expanding to a quartet that incorporated bassist Amit Alcalai-Duvnjak, shared with Chuckamuck and the Gondors, plus Omri Gondor on drums for the Gondors. This same ensemble entered Berlin's Big Snuff Studio to lay down tracks for her follow-up effort, Novum Ovum, which displayed greater musical variety. Spanning styles from 1950s pop through soul-infused rock & roll to nighttime ballads, the release came out via Khannibalism and the Ernest Jenning Record Co. toward the end of 2019.
