Sausage

Sausage represents the founding configuration of Primus, the California Bay Area group. Although bassist/vocalist Les Claypool guides the ensemble just as he does in Primus, his bass lines share equal footing rather than taking center stage. Guitarist Todd Huth and drummer Jay Lane instead lock into a steady, unified pulse free of the jagged patterns associated with the later band. The three musicians first assembled Primus during the late '80s and issued an early demo tape titled Sausage. Claypool continued onward with Primus, Lane later joined the hip-hop/jazz collective Alphabet Soup as well as the jazz group the Charlie Hunter Trio, and Huth became a member of Porch. The original trio reconvened in 1994 under the Sausage name, issued the album Riddles Are Abound Tonight, and completed a brief tour.
