Biography
Emerging in 2004, the South Korean R&B trio SG Wannabe—SG referencing Simon & Garfunkel—quickly established itself as a major force on the pop scene. Avoiding television promotion and music videos for singles, the members placed their faith in vocal and instrumental skill rather than visuals, a choice that still propelled their debut album, 2004’s Wannabe+, to strong commercial results. That conviction proved well-founded across the group’s run, with Chae Dong Ha, Kim Yong Jun, and Kim Jin Ho driving the follow-ups Saldaga in 2005, The 3rd Masterpiece in 2006, and The Sentimental Chord in 2007 to the summit of album charts while also collecting numerous industry awards. Plans called for issuing the band’s fifth album in March 2008.
