South Korean vocal duo Davichi built their reputation on sweeping, richly arranged K-pop ballads that repeatedly claimed the top spots on the Gaon charts. Singers Lee Hae-ri and Kang Min-kyung came together at the close of 2007 under a name that roughly means “shining over everything.” Their debut album, Amaranth, landed in February 2008 and set the template for a ballad-centered sound that also folded in brighter R&B and electronic touches. Early traction remained modest until the 2010 EP Innocence delivered their first number one with the buoyant “Time, Please Stop.” Over the next five years the pair emerged as a dominant K-pop act, notching six further chart-toppers that included “Turtle,” “The Letter,” and the Verbal Jint-assisted “Be Warmed,” while placing songs on hit series such as Big and Iris II. After releasing their second album, Mystic Ballad, they exited Core Contents Media for MMO Entertainment and scored another summit single, “Cry Again,” on the 2015 EP Davichi Hug.

A move to B2M Entertainment in 2016 preceded their sixth EP, 50 X Half. That year the Descendants of the Sun soundtrack yielded the blockbuster “This Love,” followed by another widely embraced drama cut, “Forgetting You,” from Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Marking ten years together, the duo issued their third album, &10, in 2018; a year later the platinum-certified ballad “Unspoken Words” arrived. Entering the new decade, Davichi kept charting with 2021’s “Just Hug Me” and the seasonal release “Everyday Christmas,” then returned to the EP format for Season Note in 2022 and Stitch in 2024.
