ShadowParty

ShadowParty, a supergroup that channels synth pop and new wave into contemporary music, capitalizes on its distinguished lineup drawn from New Order and Devo with additional input from Primal Scream and the Verve. Formation occurred in the late 2010s once New Order bassist Tom Chapman established contact with Devo guitarist Josh Hager. Those two then enlisted New Order guitarist Phil Cunningham and Devo drummer Jeff Friedl to complete the central four-piece. Drawing from their prior groups alongside Kraftwerk, Joy Division, and '80s punk and electro, ShadowParty tracked their self-titled debut album in Boston, Los Angeles, and Manchester, England, enlisting guest musicians Denise Johnson of Primal Scream and Nick McCabe of the Verve. The album appeared in 2018 via Mute, highlighted by the singles "Present Tense" and "Celebrate."
