She Wants Revenge

In 2004, Los Angeles disc jockeys Justin Warfield and Adam "Adam 12" Bravin launched the band She Wants Revenge, channeling a somber, Joy Division-rooted atmosphere. Word-of-mouth buzz, key industry ties, and rotation on both Sirius Satellite Radio and powerhouse West Coast station KCRW generated sufficient profile for the pair to secure a Geffen contract, which yielded their 2006 self-titled debut. That album invited parallels with Interpol, early Depeche Mode, the Bravery, and the same British post-punk forebears long noted for their unrelenting gloom. Following a support run with Depeche Mode, the duo delivered their sophomore effort, This Is Forever, in 2007. Two EPs appeared next—Save Your Soul in 2008 and Up & Down the year after—before a trek alongside the Psychedelic Furs paved the way for the group’s third full-length, Valleyheart, in 2011.
