Biography
During his presidential campaign, Bill Clinton propelled the little-known rapper Sister Souljah into brief celebrity through pointed attacks on her album 360 Degrees of Power. Souljah had stated in an interview that African Americans should cease harming their own property and instead direct their actions against White power brokers. Clinton responded by claiming her words promoted hatred and called on Blacks to kill Whites at random. The resulting publicity placed her on multiple talk shows and in various general-interest magazines yet produced scant record sales. Epic dropped her once 360 Degrees of Power failed commercially.
